What We Believe
As a congregation of believers, Inter-Community Church of God is historically and actively connected to a world-wide fellowship of Bible-believing churches, known as The Church of God (Anderson, IN). Anderson is where our publishing house and general offices were for more than a century. Although our theology is rich, wide and deep, we begin with five beliefs that are not negotiable in our fellowship:
Jesus
is Lord and our only Savior. Only by faith in Jesus do we gain heaven. Jesus is the Son of God, an inseparable member of the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Holiness
is the sanctifying and empowering presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers, turning hearts from lives of sin toward choices that line up with God's commands.
Unity
is our stand that through personal salvation through faith in Jesus, every believer in all the world enters the One Church for which Jesus sacrificed himself.
The Great Commandments
are our basis for understanding how to live God-honoring lives: 1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. 2. Love your neighbor as yourself. 3. Love one another with the love of Jesus Christ.
We preach the Bible
which is our only complete statement of faith. We believe in the inspiration, authority and power of scripture, God's Word for us, preserved through the ages and valid today and until the end of time.
